Job Title: Web Designer (UI/UX) & WordPress Developer

As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re seeking a creative, detail-oriented Web Designer & WordPress Developer to join our team.

Although this position is a remote worker opportunity, we are looking for someone in Eastern Ontario who is able to travel to Brockville 1-2 times per month. We are offering continual part-time hours OR full-time for the right individual.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will create engaging web designs with a strong focus on user experience (UI/UX). Your responsibilities will also include translating completed designs into WordPress child themes. As part of our digital marketing team, you will be involved in creating visually appealing landing pages, miscellaneous graphics for websites and social posts, and possibly logo design. This is a unique opportunity to leave your creative mark on a wide range of digital projects.

Typical Week:

• Meeting with the team to discuss upcoming projects and design requirements.
• Creating design mockups for new websites and landing pages.
• Developing WordPress child themes based on approved designs.
• Collaborating with the digital marketing team to create engaging graphics for websites and social posts.
• Conducting UI/UX tests and making improvements based on feedback.
• Updating existing websites with new design features or functionalities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Designing beautiful websites
• Designing engaging and responsive landing pages.
• Incorporating functionalities and features into websites.
• Designing UI elements such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.
• Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.
• Collaborating with the marketing team, and internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.
• Providing advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities in order to analyze and predict user behavior.
• Adhering to style standards on typography and graphic design.

Required Skills:

• A portfolio that demonstrates both design proficiency and understanding of UI/UX principles
• Solid understanding of WordPress themes, child themes and templates
• Experience in standard UX software such as Figma, Sketch, Axure, InVision or similar
• Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
• Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
• Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
• Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
• A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.

Beneficial Skills & Attributes:

• WordPress theme development experience.
• Familiarity with design software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
